What’s it all about?
The objectives of the New Church Youth Association are to promote education, fellowship and worship for families, children and young people in accordance with the teachings of the New Church, by whatever means are appropriate.
The NCYA is a small team of volunteers known as the NCYA Council. They are keen to provide materials and activities which will help children and families to know more about our Lord Jesus Christ and experience His love in their lives.
What does the NCYA actually do?

Home Sunday Club

Learning Materials and Resources
The NCYA provides and can advise on teaching materials for use at home or at church. It also offers support and guidance for people working with children in the church.
Purley Chase Centre
A New Church residential centre in Warwickshire where NCYA members help to lead children’s groups and Summer Camp 1 for 9-12 year olds. Our Purley store-room is an Aladdin’s cave containing art and craft materials, dressing-up clothes, Bible story-bags, toys and games for use by those leading children’s activities. Please apply to the NCYA secretary for more details of what is available and before using these supplies.

Worship
In partnership with the Youth and Families Team the NCYA prepares and leads online monthly family services on Zoom.

Children’s Day
The NCYA designate the third Sunday in January to be a special day for people in our churches or at home to think about and pray for children in our organisation, in our neighbourhoods and throughout the world. We provide a leaflet containing suggested readings, prayers and a message.

Exhibition
Every year the NCYA invites children to take part in an exhibition of their work on a particular theme. They are sent pictures to colour, simple written tasks and ideas for practical activities. The entries are exhibited at the NCYA AGM Day in June and at the church annual conference in July. They are also featured in Sunrise Magazine and online in E-News. All entrants receive a small ‘prize’.

We provide funding:
In addition to funding the above resources and on-going activities, the NCYA provides loans and grants for projects which will benefit children and families. These range from buying materials and equipment to larger building projects in churches and affiliated groups. In recent years the NCYA has helped to fund a new church heating system, a photo-copier and the refurbishment of the games room at Purley. It has also paid for extra activities at Purley events such as outings, Forest School days, coaches, a circus skills workshop, a bouncy castle etc. Anyone seeking funding must apply in advance of any expenditure, using the application form available from the NCYA secretary.
